E-Collar: off-leash protocols & k9 team problem solving

Zach Pfannenstiel - Echelon K9

Zach Pfannenstiel brings over eleven years of experience as a handler and trainer in the canine field. He currently serves as the Canine Unit Training Sergeant for his department,

overseeing a team of 40 working dogs. Zach is also a handler of a dual-purpose patrol dog, cross trained in explosive detection. His diverse role includes responsibilities such as selecting and training green dogs, instructing canine academies, conducting E-collar, agitator, and SWAT courses. Zach has also served as an expert witness in State Assembly hearings on Capitol Hill in Sacramento. Zach is a court recognized expert in use of force, police dog handling, animal behavior, and less-lethal munitions. Zach owns and operates Echelon K9 out of San Diego, California where he provides training for law enforcement agencies and military units.


E-COLLAR: OFF-LEASH PROTOCOLS & K9 TEAM PROBLEM SOLVING

This E-collar course instructs on foundational learning concepts and provides instruction on properly utilizing the E-collar. This course aims to instruct canine teams with a hands-on approach. Topics include: outing, handler conflicts, call-offs, searching/ranging, tactical applications, common issues, developing a sound working platform, and scenario based training.


REQUIRED EQUIPMENT:

- Charged E-collar

- Leash

- Long line

- Toys and any regularly utilized equipment.
