Angel retired after 24 years on active duty as a senior non-commissioned officer. He spent his last 20 years working in the Military Working Dog (MWD) Program, serving as a handler, trainer, kennel master and the latter part of his career and his most influential years, over a decade, assigned to the DoD’s MWD Training Course at the 341st Training Squadron at Lackland AFB, TX. There, he trained German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherds, and a variety of sporting breed and terrier dogs in drug or explosive detection, obedience, and patrol tasks for all US military services. Angel’s extensive knowledge and unique skillsets are representative of mentor guidance and his continuous drive for education by way of exotic, marine, and domesticated animal training seminars, media, as well as his own personal experiences gained with military and civilian law enforcement working dog programs, and countless companion animals and their owners that he works with. The comprehensive knowledge and skills that Angel has acquired have equipped him with essential tools for developing and enhancing the capabilities of working dog teams. This expertise led to Angel’s selection as a Multi-Purpose Canine (MPC) Teams Training Advisor for the US Army Special Operations Command. Recently, Angel returned to the 341st Training Squadron, where he serves as an MWD Consignment Evaluator responsible for testing, evaluating, and selecting future Military Working Dogs.
